The
club travelled to Dungloe today (28/11/09) for the first event in the Donegal
Sportshall series. Held in the impressive school hall and hosted by the Rosses
club, the event proved a successful one for the Lifford club with several fine performances on the day.
A
total of nineteen athletes made the journey into the heart of the Rosses and into Dungloe.
Competing in club colours for the first time were Brandon Connolly and Jenny McGettigan with both athletes making impressive
debuts for the club.
All
our young athletes in attendance had the opportunity to compete across a range of different events from individual races to
two and four person relays. In the ‘field’ events area, the athletes
had the opportunity to compete in speed bounce, standing long jump, standing triple jump, and chest push. All athletes received personalised score cards which can be used not only to gauge their performances at
this time of the season, but to benchmark these against past and future event in the Sportshall series. Across the board, the club was proud of the individual performances with most athletes benefiting
from both the recent cross country competitions and regular attendance at training.
The
other Lifford athletes that travelled included Jessica McLaughlin, Conor Lynch, Conor McKinney, Tianna Ward, Megan Hannigan,
Nicole Martin, Barry McLaughlin, Kyle McCarron, Zara Russell, Shannon Craig, Sam Wilson, Ciaran McBrearty, Ryan Bradley, Amy
Stewart, James Russell, Katie Anderson, and Caitlin Dolan. Well done to all our
young athletes and thanks to both the parents and coaches that travelled to lend their support.
