A group of 21 athletes travelled to Donegal Town today for the last in the series of Sportshall team competitions.
While Rally Fever was in evidence around the Donegal Town, there was no shortage of speed and excitement at the Abbey Vocational
School for this popular athletic event.
With two teams, Under 11 and Under 13, all these young athletes acquitted themselves exceptionally well. All the
young athletes performed in either the speed bounce, the standing long jump, or the chest push, while all athletes competed
in the relays, which provided a fitting finale to the event.
Given the nature of Sportshall, it is the concept of team that is most important. While there were some outstanding
individual performances, everyone's effort contributed to fine overall team displays.
The athletes that competed included:
(Under 11) Caitlin Dolan, Nicole Martin, Rory McCafferty, James Russell, Ben White, Niamh Bradley, Zara Russell, Amy
Stewart and Conor Lynch
(Under 13) Megan Hannigan, Sara Martin, Alisha McLaughlin, James Dooher, Reece Nesbitt, Katie Anderson, Catherine Dooher,
Niamh Lynch, Tianna Ward, Conor McKinney, Ryan Bradley, Dane Kelly, and Ciaran McBrearty
Congratulations to the Tir Chonaill club on a well organised and efficiently run event. All children received crisps
and juice after the event which went down a treat.
Thanks to club coaches Viola McLaughlin, Michael McKinney, Brendan O'Donnell and Josephine Stewart for travelling with
the group.
With Sportshall now over, the focus will turn to the indoors and track and field seasons.
